Commentary -
Chris Gayle's prediction of West Indies winning the series 4-1 has been thrown out of the window. The Australians put the West Indies batsmen on the back foot from the first ball of the match, with Bollinger dismissing Gayle. The rest of the top order collapsed, and it was only the late flourish from the lower order which pushed WI to 170. Australia were never going to be challenged, and aggressive fifties from Ponting and Watson got them to the target in quick time. Will the West Indies show some semblance of a fight for the next ODI? Can the Aussies continue their domination? Find out all the answers when we bring you live coverage of the 3rd ODI at Sydney on Friday. Until then, this is Siddharth signing off. Have a great day ahead.
Doug Bollinger has been fittingly declared the Man of the Match for his match winning haul of 4/28
The Aussies have polished off the West Indies in all departments. Their batting was exposed by some top class bowling, their bowling lacked penetration and aggression to put Australia under pressure. In the end, Australia win by 8 wickets and take 2-0 lead in the series. Who will be the Man of the Match? Stay tuned to find out.....

Good morning and welcome to the coverage of the 2nd ODI between Australia and West Indies at the Adelaide Oval. It is another beautiful day at Adelaide, and West Indies would look to bounce back after the crushing defeat at the MCG

Ground Reality and Pitch: Known as one of the most picturesque grounds in Australia, the Adelaide Oval, managed by the South Australian Cricket Association, is located in the Parklands between North Adelaide and the city centre. The ground, established in 1873, hosted its first ODI when Australia took on West Indies in 1975. Australia and West Indies have played a total of 7 ODIs at this ground with Australia emerging victors on 4 occasions while ending up on the losing side 3 times. The Oval pitch is generally on the slower side when compared to other Australian wickets, providing the spinners and the batsmen more assistance.

Team Updates:
Australia: Nothing has gone wrong for the Australians this summer as they have extended their golden run in all formats of the game. After defeating the Windies in the Test series at the start of the summer, the Aussies annihilated Pakistan by completing a white-wash in the Tests as well as the ODIs and then pulled off a victory in a closely contested T20 game. Going with the momentum, the Kangaroos won by a convincing margin of 113 runs in the first one-dayer against the Caribbean side. While Watson has been in rousing form with the bat and there have been consistent shows from the other batters as well. Ryan Harris, Clint McKay and Nathan Hauritz have been doing the damage with the ball throughout the Australian summer. Another such effort would definitely be expected from this professional Aussie outfit as they seek to extend their winning streak.
West Indies: The Windies, who gave the Aussies a good run for their money during the Test series, started their ODI campaign in a disappointing fashion. Although they did well to restrict the Aussies to a score of 256 in the first ODI, their effort with the bat was pathetic to say the least. Barring Kieron Pollard?s 31 and a sedate 29 from Lendl Simmons, none of the Windies batters looked capable of giving the Aussies a fight. In the end, the side, which missed the services of Sarwan, Chanderpaul and Bravo, capitulated for a paltry 143. Although it would be a morally shattered West Indian side, the primary agenda for them would be to put aside this defeat and start afresh. There definitely is no dearth of talent in the team, but the downside is their ability to play with proper application. If this negative is addressed, the controversy-surrounded West Indians would without doubt be a tough bunch to overcome.
Performance since 2009:
West Indies have played 22 ODIs since Jan 2009. While they have managed only 4 wins, they ended up on the losing side 16 times while 2 games yielded no results. During these ODIs, there have been only 3 West Indian players who have managed to score a century.
Australia on the other hand, have played 45 one Dayers since Jan 2009, winning 29 matches and losing 14 with 2 no results. 12 ODI centuries have been scored by the Australians during this period including 3 from Shane Watson.
Upcoming Milestones:
121: Mike Hussey needs to score 121 runs to aggregate 4000 runs in ODIs.
1: Ricky Ponting needs one more score of zero to take him to 19 ducks in ODIs, equalling Adam Gilchrist as the Australian with most number of ducks in ODIs.
Sound Bytes:
We tried to bowl really tight to him and everyone knows that he plays his shots. I'm just happy to get him out: Doug Bollinger, happy with Chris Gayle's dismissal in the first ODI.
He (Gayle) is a key wicket so we've got to make sure we're really on our game every time we bowl to him: Shane Watson, mentioning that the Aussies would have their work cut-out while bowling to Gayle.
Teams:
West Indies (From): Chris Gayle(c), Runako Morton, Travis Dowlin, Lendl Simmons, Narsingh Deonarine, Kieron Pollard, Denesh Ramdin(w), Dwayne Smith, Nikita Miller, Ravi Rampaul, Kemar Roach, Brendan Nash, Wavell Hinds, Darren Sammy, Gavin Tonge
Australia (From): Shaun Marsh, Shane Watson, Ricky Ponting(c), Michael Clarke, Cameron White, Michael Hussey, Brad Haddin(w), Mitchell Johnson, Nathan Hauritz, Ryan Harris, Doug Bollinger, Clint McKay, James Hopes
